Chapter 68 Rhodes Cards and Doctors

The Prophet Association will issue no more than three sets of special series of cards every year. The number of each set is variable, but there will only be a maximum of 54 special rules cards mixed in, that is, a maximum of one card of each card suit and number. It is even possible that there will be only two special cards in the entire set, and they will not go through the market but will be given directly to people who have a special relationship with the association.

Therefore, it is difficult to get a card of a special series. If that card has special usage rules, you will have to have money to get it without luck.

Although Baron Lavender and Baron Rwanda are richer than Shade, they don't have that much money to buy precious Rhodes cards. But they are all Rhodes masters, relying on their card skills to win cards from friends and out-of-town Rhodes enthusiasts. This is not the first time this has happened today.

The gambling game is conducted in a best-of-three-game format, and Baron Lavender and Baron Rwanda must play at least once each, and their friends can complete the rest of the games.

Because there were only two people participating, each party used a deck of cards to compete. Mr. Candela, a friend of Baron Lavender and working at the Prophets Association in Tobesk City, was responsible for shuffling and dealing the cards.

Two cards are dealt for the first time, and both parties decide whether to suspend or continue. In each round, one side wins five times. The round ends and one point is counted. The first side to get two points wins and gets the opponent's bet.

Bets can be placed on the deck, so after both parties issue a Rhodes card identification certificate to prove the authenticity of the cards, the game officially begins.

"I have been using this deck for 5 years and have won more than 100 games for me!"

Baron Lavender, who was waiting for the shuffling process, leaned sideways on the stone table and said.

"My deck of cards once went to the battlefield with me. Although there are no traces of it now, it has been stained with my blood."

Baron Rwanda clenched his fists and retorted unceremoniously.

Shade activated the life ring in his soul, used the spell [Echo of Blood] to glance at Baron Rwanda's deck, and then kept a straight face without showing any expression.

The atmosphere under the grape trellis reached its peak at the moment when both sides were "talking harshly". Baron Lavender and Baron Rwanda both chose to play in the first game. The warm atmosphere also attracted banquet participants near the garden grape trellis, but after discovering that it was a Rhodes tournament, only a few gentlemen chose to watch.

Shade was forced to stand next to the stone table, but in fact he had no interest in this fancy gamble. After he memorized the rules, he paid attention to the distribution of bloodstains on the Baron of Rwanda cards, and then stopped watching the game. Even though everyone around him was nervous and smiling, he was not infected by this atmosphere.

"What's so fun about playing cards?"

Shade doesn't quite understand the thoughts of people in this world, and thinks that this is caused by cultural differences.

Therefore, while I was only distractedly paying attention to the progress of the card game, my main focus was still looking around, trying to find out what the big event that the woman in my mind mentioned was about to happen.

In the middle of the first game, when Baron Lavender began to sweat while holding the cards, Shade saw another group of Orthodox Church members on the side path that was not illuminated by the elegant garden gas lamps and candles. The Ring Warlock team appeared. They came from the direction of Schluch Lake. They were probably at the lake a long time ago, but Shade didn't notice it.

There were only six people in this team, but Shade knew three of them. The two met at the entrance of the Explosive Silverware store not far from the Silver Parrot Milk Distribution Company.

One of them was unusually strong, one had the temperament of a scholar, and the other, on the afternoon when Xia De first came to this world, handed him a church leaflet where he could receive relief food.

"This is the Ring Warlock of the [Church of War and Peace] of the True God [Peace Father]."

Shade looked away from the group of people to prevent them from being discovered. Although the ring wizards also noticed the crowd gathering under the grape trellis, they did not go this way. Instead, they walked around the inconspicuous garden path to the courtyard in front of the manor.

"Now two teams of ring warlocks have appeared, probably from different churches... What will happen?"

He was thinking to himself, and then he was startled by the exclamations of the men around him. It turned out that Baron Rwanda had drawn the special card [Ancient Fairy Tale·Match Girl].

Of course, both parties who came to the Rhodes competition brought dice. Although Baron Rwanda rolled 13 for the first time, which meant that he could not use the special rules, this still made the onlookers extremely excited. The baron himself was quite proud of himself.

This is something that Shade can't understand, after all, he didn't trigger the rules at all.

Baron Rwanda continued this "good luck" and defeated Baron Lavender with five first wins in the first game. The latter pursed his lips and looked in a bad mood, but when he stood up, he forced out a fake smile and praised the other party for his good card skills. His funny expression made the joyful atmosphere under the grape trellis even more intense.

Although Baron Rwanda won, he did not choose to continue playing the game himself. Instead, he asked his friend Mr. Sik, a local factory owner who ran a flour factory, to compete. Similarly, Baron Lavender also invited his friend, Sir Thoral, a gardening artist who worked as a garden manager at Cold Spring Palace.

These two are their true friends, who have appeared many times in the past, not hired friends like Shade.

The game started again, and Baron Lavender was extremely nervous because he had already lost a game. But the garden artist was so laid-back that he even held a toothpick in his mouth and twirled his mustache while explaining that he was quitting smoking.

At this time, night has completely fallen, and three moons hang high in the night sky. The lighting under the grape trellis is mainly provided by the elegant gas lamps in the garden and the candlesticks fixed on the table.

Under the warm yellow light, the Rhodes players squinted at their hands, and the men watching were also looking forward to every draw.

Only the bored Shade was not attracted by this card game. He looked at the purple-red grapes hanging on the grape trellis and wondered if the owner of Lakeview Manor would mind if the guests took away some of these plump fruits privately.

"Speaking of which, can cats eat grapes?"

Shade's thoughts diverge very quickly, but his main focus is still on observing whether there is anything strange nearby.

While looking around, I saw two middle-aged gentlemen in black formal suits passing by the garden path next to the grape trellis, holding wine glasses. They talked about psychiatry, roughly whether hitting someone on the back of the head with a holy silverware could cure more serious mental illnesses.

Shade saw Dr. Schneider, the same Dr. Schneider holding a wine glass. While chatting with friends, I accidentally glanced under the grape trellis and caught a glimpse of the youngest detective in the group.
