The villain's side of the novel

69 The trial---3--- the prey

Reading the concept of the confidentiality restrictions, everyone realized that they could, in fact, vote anonymously without facing any consequences for their choice. This meant that they were free to vote for whomever they wanted, without fear of retribution.

At this point, many of the guests had already made up their minds about whom to vote for. Not only had this person insulted the Lionar Kingdom and its inhabitants multiple times, which everyone here despised, but many also considered him to be the most suspicious individual at the party. Unlike the other guests who maintained friendly relations with the kingdom, this person seemed to have compelling reasons to attack it. Thus, the consensus among the attendees was that the head of the notorious Parada family was the most suitable candidate to vote against.

In the midst of the bustling hall, a sudden hush fell upon the air. Though silent, the meaning behind the exchanged glances among the guests was loud and clear. They had reached an unspoken agreement, and the decision had been made.

Fray, noticing the sidelong glances directed towards him, observed the fierce and unpleasant expressions on their faces. He understood the implications of those looks all too well and found it intriguing. "They look at me like a hunter waiting to kill his prey... interesting," he mused.

"They want to vote for Fray," Lisa whispered softly, studying Fray's cold and indifferent demeanor.

Leo, remembering how Fray had saved him, his lady, and his men, felt a deep sense of gratitude. He believed this was an opportunity to repay his debt. "Should we help him?" Leo asked solemnly.

Aslan opened her mouth to say something but found herself unable to form the words. She cast a complex gaze upon Fray before closing her mouth, unsure of what to do.

Observing Aslan's conflicted expression, Luke's heart suddenly grew heavy. However, he quickly dismissed the discomfort and suggested, "Okay, let's try to convince them to..."

"Fray," interrupted Fray himself, still standing in a corner, his expression as indifferent as ever.

"Sir," responded Rin, a tall and fit teenager who appeared suddenly behind Fray, displaying a respectful demeanor.

"You know what to do," Fray stated coldly, his gaze fixed on the shocked guests witnessing Rin's unexpected arrival.

"Yes, sir," Rin replied respectfully before slowly stepping forward. As he stood before Fray, his respectful countenance abruptly shifted to one of anger and coldness as he glared at the crowd of guests.

The guests, caught off guard by Rin's piercing eyes, trembled involuntarily, unsure of the cause. However, they swiftly regained their composure, recognizing that regardless of who this young man was, he could not harm them easily. After all, he was facing more than three hundred guests and the confines of the law. Consequently, their confidence resurfaced, and they met Rin's challenging gaze with cold, defiant eyes.

Rin, enraged by the guests' defiance, became even more furious. Without wasting a moment, he raised his hands in the air, surprising everyone with his intentions.

As Rin stood before the crowd of guests, his expression twisted with anger and. His hands moved with a fluid grace, commanding the several wires with precision and deadly intent. The wires, almost invisible to the naked eye, slithered through the air like serpents seeking their prey.

The first wire shot forward with astonishing speed, snaking its way toward the neck of a man who had intended to vote against Fray. Before anyone could react, the wire wrapped itself tightly around the man's throat, causing him to gasp for breath. Panic filled his eyes as he realized the dire situation he was trapped in.

Simultaneously, more wires shot out, each finding their mark around the necks of unsuspecting guests. The wires tightened with a relentless grip, cutting off the victims' air supply and causing them to writhe in agony. Pained cries filled the air as the guests struggled to free themselves from the deadly embrace of the wires.

Rin's movements were a blur of speed and precision as he manipulated the wires, his face a mask of determination. With each subtle adjustment of his hands, the wires constricted further, increasing the pressure on the hostages' necks. The guests, once filled with confidence, now trembled in fear, realizing the futility of their defiance.

"What is happening?"

"It hurts! How did this happen?"

"It's that boy. He's the..."

"Help!"

"What incredible speed," Luke muttered, his face filled with shock as he witnessed the unfolding scene.

"He's fast..." Loe stated, his expression solemn. Though he couldn't comprehend how it had happened, everything occurred with astonishing speed and skill.

"P-please... I'm s-sorry. I won't vote for you. I promise... P-please, save me," one of the men who had intended to vote for Fray pleaded, his voice broken as he struggled to speak. A thin, solid wire constricted hi neck, making it difficult for him to breathe or utter words. He realized that if the wire tightened a bit more, his head would be separated from his body. The wire was under the control of the young-faced teenager standing before Fray, extending from his hand. The man couldn't fathom how he had ended up entangled in the deadly wire within the blink of an eye, leaving him with no chance of escape.

This man was not the only one suffering under these dire circumstances. At that moment, hundreds of similar wires connected Rin's hand to the necks of numerous guests. With a simple movement, Rin could end their lives.

Spectrum wires, the weapon Rin had obtained from the Parada family's treasury, were a rare-grade weapon. They were among the most dangerous weapons possessed by the Parada family, requiring great talent and skill to master. Rin, however, had effortlessly mastered them in a short period. In this situation, where everyone's abilities were restricted, Rin's terrifying assassination skills, combined with this weapon, became an unstoppable force.

Time seemed to stretch as the standoff continued, the room enveloped in a suffocating silence broken only by the anguished moans of the hostages. The once-confident guests now cowered before Rin's power, realizing the dire consequences of their intended actions.

In that moment, Rin had transformed the dynamic of the room completely. The tables had turned, and the prey had become the hunter.
