My Vampire System

156 It's starting

After verifying the suit worked, Quinn also tried using his shadow and blood abilities to see if they worked the same when he was wearing it. He first tested his shadow abilities, and he hadn't noticed any difference when using them compared to normal. Then he also tried out his blood abilities, on a nearby tree, they weren't affected in strength or speed by the suit either.

He also tested if the suit would restrict his movements in any way, but it turned out not to be the case. Because it was made from light and flexible material, it didn't hinder him in any way.

After testing out the suit, he was happy with the results. Logan had done him a huge favour by helping him design and create it.

He used shadow equip again to put it in his shadow void, and decided to head to the hospital to see if they could find a solution to their 'Peter' problem there.

For once he was lucky, there was no problem entering the hospital. He could walk around freely as a free citizen. Quinn headed to a specific room, but as he was walking around, he noticed that the hospital had something the school didn't.

In nearly every corner of the rooms he had passed through, there were round objects with a blinking red light, they were security cameras. There were no cameras installed in the schools because of the pressure the originals had put on the military, they were afraid that their abilities would get copied or their techniques might get stolen.

In the city and its buildings, this was different, students wouldn't be practising their skills in the hospital, or anywhere else in the city, so there was no reason why cameras couldn't be installed there.

For Quinn, this was a major problem. If he tried to take something from the hospital he would be caught on camera doing it.

He was mentally going over all his options, but he could use none of them right now. If he used his suite, and someone noticed him putting it on, his identity would be revealed. If he used shadow cloak he would be invisible, but the objects he was carrying would still be visible, it would look like they were floating through the air on their own.

The cameras would pick up a floating object, which would get reported. This, in turn, would lead to another investigation. Still, it was an option. He would keep it in mind for when they really needed it. But right now it looked like Vorden's plan was the only viable option left.

Now that Quinn had investigated the hospital as a solution to their problem, he decided to head back. Of course, being a vampire he had noticed all the bags of blood that were everywhere around him. 'Imagine having access to all this blood, it would be an instant power increase,' he thought to himself.

For now, it was only something he could dream about. Maybe in the future when there was an emergency that required him to get stronger quickly, he might consider it, but only if the benefits outweighed the consequences of getting caught.

When Quinn was about to leave the hospital, a voice message appeared on his wristwatch. He didn't even have an option to listen to it at a later time, because it immediately started to play.

"Quinn Talen, you are to report to General Nathan's office immediately. You have 30 minutes to comply. If you are not here within that timeframe, we will send guards to come and escort you here immediately," the message ended.

Quinn couldn't help but feel nervous had they found out about him being a vampire? Or maybe they had found out about Peter, and he had ratted him out?!

These thoughts had made him considerer running away, but he immediately discarded that option. It was impossible to escape from the military camp, and on top of that, he would be reported as a draft evader.

Because he was in the city, he had to do his best to get to General Nathan's office in time. He stood in front of the General's office door and knocked before entering.

"Come in," Nathan said.

When Quinn entered the room, he could see Nathan standing behind his desk, with Hayley and Fay standing against the wall to one side. But this wasn't what worried him, but it was a familiar woman sitting in front of Nathan's desk. He had seen her before, and her ability was what worried him because she could tell if someone was lying.

"Please take a seat," Nathan said while pointing him to the chair across from the woman.

Meanwhile, when Quinn was in Nathan's office, the other three were still in the dorm room together.

"I'm going out for a bit, there is something I need to do in case we can't come up with anything," Vorden said.

"Do you mind telling me what your backup plan is?" Layla asked.

"Trust me, even if you did know the plan, it is not something you could do. Actually, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to do it even if you could."

"Why don't you try me?" She said with a smug look on her face.

Before leaving the room he walked towards Layla, and he whispered the plan he had come up with into her ear, then he immediately walked through the door.

After hearing Vorden's plans her eyes opened wide and her face dropped to the floor. At that moment her whole opinion of Vorden had changed, in fact, what he said was true. If it was her in his situation she was unsure if she could do the same thing.

With Vorden gone to make sure his backup plan was ready if all else failed, this left Peter and Layla alone in the room together. The two of them weren't exactly the closest before, but the problem was the last time they had talked had made it worse.

Layla had told Peter off and even called him disappointing, but she saw him in a different light ever since he had sacrificed himself for Quinn.

As the two of them sat there in silence awkwardly staring in from of themselves, Layla was starting to miss the crazy boy a bit. At least he was a conversation starter.

Some time had passed and the two of them started doing the things they would usually do, Layla brought out a book and started reading while Peter laid there thinking about how much he had changed.

He thought about all the pain he had suffered because of Earl, which had gone away just like that. In an instant, Peter was able to get rid of him, and Peter didn't feel bad about killing him at all. Instead, he felt like he had done something good.

As time went by with them doing their own thing, all of a sudden, a rumbling sound could be heard. It immediately made Layla jump up from the bed she was lying on and look towards the door. "Peter..." She eyed him warily. "You aren't getting hungry, are you?"

Peter wanted to lie, he wanted to tell her it was okay that nothing was happening. But the force of Quinn's blood ran deep into his veins and he felt compelled to keep his word to Quinn about telling them if he was feeling a certain hunger.

"I think it's starting. Peter admitted.
