MMORPG: Rebirth as an Alchemist

497 A Fight with Anansi

[BONUS]

Ren then proceeded to Yil'Quessir Ayin, where he found the dark elves, and some of the white-elven villagers with Aimon and Amilia.

In a beautiful death ceremony, the dark elves invoke the ancient magic of the Yil'Quessir Ayin with magical lights, joyful dancing, and loving songs.

While the dark elves danced among the statues, Kail'ithal sang a beautiful elven song over El'athal's cairn. As she finished, she placed a hand on the stone.

Everyone went silent in expectation. After a few long moments, the stone began to move, tumbling away as a green sprout shot up from the cairn.

Kail'ithal stood back slowly as it grew into a vibrant, young oak over the course of mere minutes.

Tears streaming down her cheeks, Kail'ithal whispered, "El'athal." A sad smile spreads on her face.

A prompt then appeared on Ren's screen.

[The tree continues to grow in the years to come, spreading its roots even further. Aimon could often be found sitting by the tree, whispering beautiful poems and staring wistfully up into its lush canopy.]

After reading the future and the outcome of his choices, Ren had no more business here and decided to go to the entrance of Verdant Woods. Odessa, the merchant of Mistwood Trading Company, greeted him with a big smile.

"Thank you, adventurer! I was right to employ you! Now trade will finally resume in this area!"

[RECEIVED!

When Ren was sure that he got all his rewards, he retraced his steps back to Anansi's lair.

The shortest was to teleport into the Queen Fairy's Tomb and retrace back towards the Mycelial Grove.

In the dark forest where the Lynchwood was before, the thick and dense trees covered most of the amount of light that penetrated the forest floor, creating a dim and shadowy atmosphere.

The trees in a dark forest were often tall and close together, creating a canopy that blocked out much of the sunlight. As a result, the forest floor was often covered in moss, fallen leaves, and other vegetation that had grown in partial darkness.

Despite their ominous reputation, dark forests were home to a diverse range of plant and animal life. Many species of herbs and beasts made their homes in the dense understory of the forest, and the forest may also contain unique species of trees and other plants that have adapted to the low light conditions.

When Ren reached that familiar hole in the ground, he jumped into it and fell on top of a large mushroom. The Drider Graveyard immediately came alive, and the animated corpses peeled from their locations and moved in Ren's direction.

The spiders rattled and made buzzing noises before Anansi made his appearance.

"Calm down, everyone," he announced. His baritone voice echoing in the grave.

"He is my guest," he said, eyes swirling with unbridled darkness.

"I see that you have brought what I asked," he continued and extended his hand. "Let me have it."

Ren didn't give what Anansi wanted. Instead, he wanted to make a bargain and see where it would lead.

"I will give it to you in exchange for all your God's Fruits."

Anansi's head tilted over, and his eyes constricted. "I don't think a mortal like you have any rights to bargain with a god like me."

". . ." Ren remained quiet.

"Tell you what, since I'm in a good mood. You give me the Demon Metamorphosis, and I'll let you out alive from here. How about that?"

"I will only let you have it if you exchange it with all your God Fruits," Ren replied.

Anansi was silent for a moment before ten golden fruits appeared in thin air. Ren's eyes shone with delight.

Anansi had ten fruits! This was fantastic!

"Give me the Demon Metamorphosis first, and I'll hand these to you."

Ren laughed inwardly. Did he take him for a fool? As soon as he gave the Demon Metamorphosis, Anansi would definitely kill him.

Not that he minded that outcome so the engaged button would trigger.

"How about you give me the fruit first, and I'll hand you the Demon Metamorphosis?"

Anansi wasn't laughing now.

Ren chuckled. He could feel that he was on the right track to make the High God fight him. If he couldn't get those God Fruits by words, then he could simply kill Anansi with Pii.

Pii!

Pii stared over at Ren as if it understood him before it circled over him in excitement.

Anansi's face darkened, and he threatened. "Are you sure about that mortal?"

[WARNING! Anansi is angered by your aggression. Further conflict will result in a fight!]

That's what I wanted. Re mused to himself.

"I've never been too sure in my entire life than right now," said Ren. Rather, could Anansi hurry it up and attack already, so he could get this done and over with?

"Have it your way then!"

Using [Sneak Attack], Anansi was behind Ren with his sharp talon-like legs piercing him from behind. For a gigantic gargantuan, Anansi moved so swiftly for the naked eye to follow.

One hit from Anansi and Ren would surely be a goner. But he came prepared, as he cast [Butterfly of Deceit] early on.

He reappeared a hundred meters away from Anansi while Pii did its thing and attacked the High God. One breath of Anansi and Pii was blown away with zero HP.

Anansi's [Magic Weapons] passive skill allowed all his attacks to become magical damage, even his breath.

With a loud poof, the air was filled with dark smog, electricity crackling around them. And within the smoke emerged Pii's giant form.

Anansi was surprised at first, but he didn't have the time to be shock for long as Pii lunged at him with vigor.

Anansi and Pii faced each other in the middle of a clearing in the graveyard. The mindless corpses that moved only by their desire to feed all attack Ren and Pii.

Pii merely swept them away with its tail while Ren avoided the horde by jumping on top of a giant mushroom. However, he wasn't off the hook when the spiders in the graveyard all locked their eyes on him.
