I Was a Swordsman in Ancient Japan

Postscript to Volume Five (Part 2)

Text Volume 5 Postscript (Part 2)

(????)??Hi! tortured!

This is Shu Mengshi, an amateur novelist who has been taking care of his body recently.

Volume 5 "Kyoto Summer Battle" has finally come to an end.

The total word count is exactly what I expected at the end of volume 4 - about 300,000 words.

The 45 chapters from the 288th to the 333rd of this volume are all about the story that happened in [one night]. The total number of words is about 230,000 words.

The longest night in Shin Ogata's life. (laugh)

The inspiration for this volume comes from the encyclopedia entry of "Tianming Fire" when I was looking for information.

After learning that there was such a terrible fire in Kyoto in 1788, a steady stream of inspiration and ideas began to emerge in my mind.

I combined these ideas to create this volume.

When this volume was first serialized, many book friends speculated whether the Tianming fire was man-made.

In the end, the answer to the mystery was finally revealed - the Tianming fire was not man-made.

But such a large damage is man-made.

There are also many historical figures appearing in this volume.

The daimyo of the Owari Clan [Tokugawa Munemu], the representative of Kyoto Soshiji [Toda Tadahiro], the temple shrine magistrate [Ota Ziai], the Osaka Joshiro [Hotita Masahiro], the founder of Natural Rishin Flow [Kondo Neizosuke], the above Help people, all are historical figures.

Although I have carried out a certain degree of magic modification on these historical figures (laughs).

Historically, Toda Tadahiro's tenure in Kyoto was from 1784 to 1789.

After Toda Tadahiro resigned, Ota Sukeai took over the position of the governor of Kyoto. The term of office of Ota Sukeai was from 1789 to 1792.

That is to say, if the plot is arranged according to historical facts, Ogata and the others are currently in the timeline (1790), and the governor of Kyoto should be Ota Ziai.

But in the end I decided to let Toda Tadahiro serve as Kyoto Sojidai for one more year (laughs).

The reason is simple-the character of Toda Tadahiro is especially suitable for magic reform.

What did Toda Tadahiro do after resigning as the head of the Kyoto office——I can't find out at all.

This kind of person who doesn't know what to do afterwards is the most suitable for magic reform (laughs).

To be honest, the serialization of volume 5 was very difficult.

It's not that the fifth volume is so difficult to write, but that when the fifth volume is serialized, the reality of the author's side frequently arises.

First, at the end of January, we have to fiddle with the internship materials.

After finishing the internship materials with great difficulty, I suddenly felt unwell due to staying up too late or some other reason.

It took a lot of effort to adjust my body a little better, and I ran into a special event again.

The 3 days of writing the fanfare were really difficult. Under the condition of ensuring that the update of the main text would not be interrupted, I had to write a 30,000-word fanfare.

After successfully finishing the episode, the author has successfully started to adjust his physical condition from zero (leopard crying with headache).

But in general, Volume 5 is still a very smooth and successful conclusion.

"While describing the stories of Ogata and the others, it also shows the various aspects of Kyoto at that time"-I wrote this volume with this idea in mind.

So you can see in this volume: the mother-in-law who was affected by the Tianming fire and whose family was destroyed but still lived a strong life; Shimabara girls whose only way to participate in the Gion Festival is to watch the fireworks, residents of the burnt-down area whose homes cannot be rebuilt, scumbags who feel that it is right to be bullied, and those who cheat Bureaucrats, bureaucrats forced to perform tasks they did not want to perform...

The overall psychological feeling of serializing this volume is pain and happiness, but after seeing this volume finally taking shape and successfully completed, I still feel a sense of relief.

All in all - thank you so much for your support!

Starting tomorrow, the serialization of the sixth volume "Edo Castle Gozen Trial" will begin.

I hope everyone can subscribe on time~~

I can't think of anything else to say, so this postscript will stop here.

My deepest thanks to everyone who supported this book!
