In order to eliminate the influence of periodic boundary conditions on the calculation results, Shen Qi added a vacuum layer of 15 Å above the LSMO, and the calculated STO in-plane lattice constant was 3.88 Å.

Based on first-principle calculations, Shen Qi found that changing the Sr doping amount can effectively regulate the internal polarization field of the LSMO cladding layer and realize the metal-insulator transition at the LAO/STO interface.

"The migration of positive and negative ions in the LAO layer is obviously suppressed due to the electronic reconstruction offsetting its internal electric field. From this point of view, the polarization catastrophe mechanism seems to be more convincing."
