I Became A System

Chapter 138 - Elite Guards Of The Murphey Family

All of them had a dazing expression. Seemingly unaware for the first few seconds, they smiled after they understood and patched up Ellena's words.

It was a victory, and it was supposed to be the time for Ellena to disclose her true powers. Although it was unnecessary to tell them if not for this incident. That organization is just a pain in the ass. I wasn't wrong about how they would react to Ellena. Because of them, Ellena broke into a sweat... it wasn't necessary to mention.

Anyway, I hope that those remnants who ran away could report what they saw. And if they don't even mention it to their 'Supreme', we'll just wait for their next stubborn attack. They're thickheads, obviously.

I also see this as a thing. If ever there is time to meet them again, I want it when I have my own physical body. I at least want to fight on Ellena's side. And if I can't wait to see if they decide to do it earlier, I will just continue to improve my progress.

"Uhm..." Thalia made a sound that got the three girls' attention. She slowly pointed to the degenerated body of the commander that seemed to be a corpse.

"What should we do about that? We can't hide him or kill him, right?" Thalia asked.

"Wait. You're not even wondering about my true power?" Ellena retorted with her arms crossed. She seems to be boasting about it, which Selena and Rosellete just snickered at since they noticed Ellena's intention.

"Of course I am. But I am done with it, Big Sister. What we need to do is deal with the aftermath. I am sure that after those thunderous sounds you made from your magic, everyone behind these walls is alarmed."

Ellena was silent for a moment and nodded. "You're right. It was insignificant to boast about that."

"Big Sister, you are strong. And even before that, I already knew you had something, and today you just showed it to us."

Well... I was right when I felt that Thalia was also brilliant. She can notice and decipher things on her own. Even without assistance from people, she can understand what is happening.

I may also want to bless this girl in the future. But, of course, I have to ask Ellena. She's more important to me. However, I don't think that Ellena would think badly about that idea.

When Ellena finally showcased different abilities, I also checked Selena and Rosellete's expressions. And from what I can say, they are both cool with it. Their auras were never dark.

Of course, they were shocked, but I was agitated that maybe after seeing Ellena's plenty abilities, they would feel stinginess or build up an evil intention.

I'm not good with it. I want everything to be clear for Ellena and they are her friends. Ellena would be devastated if she had to fight one of her friends in a life-or-death situation. She's sweet and she's not apathetic.

Ellena is warm and thoughtful. Even though it sometimes extended to strangers, she slowly fixed it and limited it. Now, she is starting to think only of herself and the people she thinks are special. The responsible and justice persona she built in the past was starting to diminish and turn into something more mature.

"Oh. Haha. It doesn't even need to be a boast, huh. I see..." Ellena uttered before approaching the passed-out body of the commander.

He was still bound with light, and as she pulled him up, assisted with Selena and Rosellete, people started to come. They are the guards of the city, and at least, they have the same gears as the Murphey Family's elite guards.

What are they doing here? Checking strange things was a city guard's job, so it was questionable why they were here.

"Hey!" One roared from the group of elite guards. They were at least 10 people and they slowly approached Ellena.

Their eyes were also turned to the commander and the dead bodies wearing uniforms. They weren't official uniforms from the city, or at least not government-issued ones.

One of them, who appeared to be the leader, pointed a sword at Ellena and the rest of the girls.

They also inspected the area. The destroyed scenery from craters and burns as well as the splattered blood in the area. The head and body parts were also not to be overlooked. They just couldn't help but suspect the females. They are the only ones alive that must answer them.

Or so they thought.

I can feel their emotions. Their auras towards Ellena. They were agitated and cautious of her. Of course, who would not?

They seemed to be unhostile towards Ellena's group and tried to be reasonable. As they were guards of the Landlord's family, it was also their job to secure the security of the family. And this situation is applicable since a gruesome scene just happened outside the city where the family resides.

Ellena slowly lifted her arms in the air.

I already knew what she was thinking. This isn't something to be settled by violence or an unnecessary progression. Ellena just took out her special identification and didn't bother them watching her.

She handed her special identification to the guard and looked at him intently. The guard also willingly took it and inspected whether it was fake or not. But when he saw it was authentic, he sheathed his sword and commanded his men to put back their swords and remain natural.

"I'm sorry for the inconvenience, Miss Lumbert. I am a squad leader of the Elite Guards from the Murphey Family, the landlord of this city. I hope you don't mind. It is important for us to know what happened here."

Ellena just nodded and assured him that the rest was with her. She also showed them their respective guild cards and the guard nodded to acknowledge it.

"You see, someone wanted to kill me, so I was left with no choice but to fight back. They were at least 50, but 20 percent of them escaped after I captured their commander." Ellena said as the guard nodded and somewhat carved it into his memory.

"And that is the leader of that group who wanted to kill me." Ellena continued.

A few seconds later, Ellena remained silent and didn't add any new information. As the guard was anticipating Ellena's next move, she just smiled at him.

"Further information is unnecessary for you to know. I may not know you, but I know Verxal. I will tell things to him and you can just ask him if you want." Ellena said.

The guard nodded and commanded the guards to carry the bodies in the area. They also needed to investigate individuals' identities since they are criminals who have acted outside their walls. If these people continued to act this way, people from the outside, especially passing nobles, would think badly of them.

The reason the elite guards ran to this site immediately was that they heard thunder. That thunder was an indication that someone might have used a magic ability that was supposed to be weak if not practiced. Also, because it continued for so long, they didn't have any choice but to attend, since it was a sign that someone high-ranking rune owner might be the cause of the ruckus.

And they weren't wrong. They would just be thankful that it was a noble and not a rebel one.

"So, Ellena, what's your plan with that commander?" Aaron asked.

'Him? I'll hand him over to Verxal and ask him to report it to the HQ. I know that he won't ask and would not be obliged to know about him through me.' Ellena explained, making Aaron ponder for a moment.

"And how can you be sure about that?"

'Because he likes me. Of course, he wouldn't ask a lady to recall a nightmarish event.' Ellena said, dumbfounding Aaron, who was left frozen in his position.

"Just where did you learn that?! You didn't tell me you are also a narcissist!" Aaron retorted as if things came to a head.
