Harry Potter and the Attack of the Squibs

Chapter 64: Telling the truth

Umbridge led Harry and Malfoy towards the entrance of the Headmaster's Office alone.

There was a cruel smile of excitement on her face, and Harry couldn't help but start to worry about his own fate.

But he was more worried about Hermione.

Harry glanced at Malfoy behind him. He had completely transformed into Snape, expressionless.

Or look gloomy.

When Harry entered the principal's office, he was surprised to find that there were many, many people here today.

Dumbledore was rarely seen standing, but sitting behind his big ornate desk, with Professor McGonagall standing beside him.

On the other side of the room, Fudge was sitting on a temporary chair. Behind him were Kingsley and another Auror, and on the other side were several Ministry of Magic staff.

They seemed to be completing a trial directly here.

Fudge turned to look at Harry with a surprised expression: "Oh, this is... really..."

Umbridge smiled beside him.

It was not simply gloating, but a crueler and darker emotion.

Harry had only seen this smile on Umbridge's face.

Fudge looked at Harry and smiled, and when he saw Malfoy behind him, Fudge's smile became even more obvious.

"Do you know why you are here, Harry?"

Harry almost answered directly that he knew.

But Harry held back.

He remembered what Hermione had said before.

"If you are caught, just say you don't know anything. We still have the last hope."

"No matter what, I can't admit it personally."

Harry glanced up at Dumbledore, and then he saw the hint that Dumbledore had given him.

Harry suppressed his anger, shook his head and began to act stupid.

"Of course I don't know."

Fudge looked at Harry in surprise: "Don't you know you violated school rules?"

Harry shook his head: "Of course I didn't break the school rules."

Fudge was almost furious: "Where are the Ministry of Magic's decrees?"

Harry shook his head: "Of course not."

"Oh, as far as I know, no."

Fudge looked at Harry, then back at Malfoy: "What about you, Draco?"

"Look at Uncle Fudge."

Malfoy looked up at Fudge and shook his head, "I don't know."

On the surrounding walls, the former principals in the portraits all smiled.

Fudge turned and glanced at Dumbledore.

Dumbledore lowered his head casually, as if he was studying something on the table.

Fudge turned and looked at Harry, as if losing his patience.

"For the last time, if you admit it, I will give you another chance."

Harry was silent for a moment: "I don't know what you are talking about."

Fudge nodded: "Call our witnesses, Umbridge."

Umbridge nodded and walked out.

Not long after, she walked in with a girl.

Harry had an impression of that girl, a sixth-year Ravenclaw.

"Now, testify."

The girl sobbed and nodded.

Umbridge stood pretentiously in front of the girls: "I'm here to ask you seriously, do you know that Harry Potter holds secret gatherings inside Hogwarts?"

The girl nodded.

Fudge almost jumped for joy.

He turned and looked at Dumbledore: "Look, Dumbledore, I'll just say it!"

Umbridge glanced at Harry with a sneer: "Who is their mastermind?"

The girl's voice sounded a bit muffled because she covered her face with her hands: "Lu Ke."

Umbridge was stunned for a moment.

Fudge turned and looked at Harry in surprise.

Then he looked at Umbridge: "What?"

Umbridge shook her head irritably: "This matter has nothing to do with Lu Ke!"

"He is obviously taking alchemy classes right now."

But Fudge next to Umbridge didn't seem to think so.

"I think even if Lu Ke is in class, it doesn't affect him as the mastermind and organizer of this matter."

Fudge smiled: "After all, he is a rumormonger who has persisted for so long."

Umbridge glanced at Fudge, as if she was still thinking about what to say, but Fudge had already turned to look at Dumbledore.

"Call Lu Ke over."

Dumbledore shook his head: "He is in class."

Fudge smiled: "A student who is about to be expelled from Hogwarts still cares about whether he can go to class or not?"

Umbridge hesitated and wanted to speak, but it was too late.

Fudge turned to Kingsley and nodded: "Go and call Lu Ke over."

Kingsley nodded silently, turned and walked out of the room.

Then there was an awkward silence in the principal's office.

Professor McGonagall obviously wanted to say something, but it seemed that Dumbledore stopped her.

Umbridge was brainstorming, but she never came up with a solution.

Fudge didn't care at all about this. He seemed to feel victory was in sight and turned to look at Harry and Malfoy.

"Okay, Harry, Draco, don't be like this. If you had admitted that Lu Ke was the mastermind earlier, I would have let you go. Although you have violated school rules, as long as you are not the mastermind, it doesn't really matter."

Harry shook his head: "I didn't break the school rules."

Malfoy just remained silent.

Fudge seemed to feel a little embarrassed. He turned around and looked at the girl who just testified: "What's your name?"

The girl shook her head silently.

Umbridge answered for her at the beginning: "She is Marietta, the minister, the daughter of Mrs. Acmore. You know, the office of the Department of Magical Transport. She is responsible for helping us monitor the Floo powder network in Hogwarts."

Fudge smiled and nodded, "You did a great job, Marietta."

He looked at the girl a little strangely: "Why don't you put your hands down."

Umbridge shook her head: "This..."

The girl cried as if she finally broke down. She put down her hand, and then Fudge was startled.

Marietta's face was covered in purple pustules and she posed with the word "snitch."

Fudge shook his head: "Can't we break this curse?"

"This must be Lu Ke's doing, casting a curse on the students of Hogwarts!"

Dumbledore spoke slowly on the side: "I don't think this is a curse. Also, Lu Ke never casts a curse on others."

Fudge shook his head and said nothing more.

Umbridge could only explain helplessly: "I tried...but this curse..."

Harry couldn't help but laugh. Umbridge couldn't break Hermione's spell, which was good news.

But Hermione never did.

Just as he was thinking this, Kingsley came back.

Lu Ke followed him and walked to the center of the room with an impatient look on his face: "Is something wrong?"

His eyes swept over everyone in the Ministry of Magic.
